Travel & Stay

Frequently Asked
Questions.

How do I get to RISE Costa Rica and Kinkára in Pérez Zeledón?

You can travel to RISE Costa Rica by private transfer, domestic flight, or driving. We recommend four main modes of travel to get to the property:

  • Private Transfer (Taxi): We can organize a private driver to collect you from Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San José and bring you directly to RISE Costa Rica. The cost is approximately $200 one-way.
  • Domestic Flight: You can fly from SJO to our local airstrip in Pérez Zeledón. The flight takes about 25 minutes and costs approximately $150 per person or $500 if booking a charter for 4 people. Note that domestic flights have strict luggage weight limitations.
  • Driving by the Mountains: A scenic 3-hour drive from San José along Route 2 (Cerro de la Muerte). The road is beautiful but winds through high-altitude cloud forests. We strongly advise against driving this route at night due to dense fog, rainy conditions, and lack of nearby service stops.
  • Driving by the Beach: A scenic coastal drive via Route 34 to Dominical, then heading inland to Pérez Zeledón. It takes 3.5 to 4 hours. Again, we recommend avoiding this route after dark if you are unfamiliar with the area.
What are the accommodation options and rates at Kinkára?

Kinkára offers luxury glamping tents starting at $65 + taxes per night, which includes an organic, farm-to-table breakfast served fresh from our garden. Kinkára serves as the visit hub for the RISE Costa Rica community.

Tent configurations include:
Double Tent (queen bed for 2 people)
Twin Tent (two single beds for 2 people)
Family Tent (up to four single beds for 4 people)

You do not need to make advance payments or deposits online; your booking details will be coordinated and verified directly by our team.

How do I book a stay to visit RISE Costa Rica?

To visit RISE Costa Rica, first submit a visit inquiry through our website. Our system checks Kinkára's retreat calendar for availability. We will record your requested dates in our database, and Alejandra from our team will reach out via email or WhatsApp to coordinate availability, finalize reservation details, coordinate transportation, and confirm your stay.

Can my kids try the Waldorf school?

Absolutely. We need to plan it in advance with the school director, Amanda director@crwaldorf.org.

Can we participate of the community activities?

Yes. We highly encourage you to do it and specially Wednesdays family dinner.

How long should I stay?

It is up to you, but we recommend you to stay at least 5 days to explore the lots, visiting the river, explore the city, try the school and meet the community members.

Are there homes available to rent?

RISE is a full time residents community so we do not have homes. Eventually some of our residents might have a guest house available, but it is hard to plan it since they built those houses to receive their friends and family.
